Think back to the 2016 presidential election for a moment…
You had your die-hard liberals that voted for Hillary Clinton… and you had your loyal conservatives that easily cast their vote for Donald Trump.
But there was also another group of voters out there… and they singlehandedly decided the outcome of that election.
They weren’t Republicans OR Democrats.
In fact, they were folks that HATED both Trump and Clinton. These were the folks that said the 2016 election had the two most ‘unlikable’ candidates in presidential history.
But in the end, they did cast a vote for someone… and many of them cast their vote for Trump (and the rest is history).
Now fast forward to today… and if you can believe it, experts say that President Trump’s re-election hopes hinge on courting a large group of voters that HATE him (but also hate Joe Biden).
According to a feature in Vanity Fair, as it stands right now, a lot of would-be voters really don’t like Trump or Biden. But of those who dislike both men, polling shows that the double haters favor Joe Biden by more than 40 percentage points.
And the Trump campaign is taking notice. According to the feature, experts believe that Team Trump will spend a TON of money trying to courts this ‘double haters’ and make the next few months about trying to persuade these voters to ponder that Biden is terrible for America (even if they don’t really like Trump).
Just how critical are these voters?
According to the report, back in 2016 18% of ALL voters had an unfavorable opinion of both Trump and Clinton. But when it came time to enter the polling booth, those voters held their nose and voted for Trump—by a whopping margin of 17 percentage points!
And in the crucial swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, Trump won the double haters by a HUGE margin of between 21 and 37 points.
That’s stunning!
And even though these folks may ‘hate’ him, Trump knows he can’t be re-elected without them.
