In Monday’s Blitz Daily with Lance Ippolito, we take a look at payments platform PayPal as volatility ramps up in tech stocks.

Equity markets saw lots of weakness Monday after new service sector data has Wall Street fearing the economy is still too hot for the Federal Reserve to cool off its scorching pace of interest rate hikes. 

The Nasdaq is leading the way down with a nearly 2% drop…The S&P 500 isn’t far behind, falling 1.8% amid another low-volume sell-off.

We didn’t see much institutional order flow, and what little we did was in short-dated weekly options — likely day trades. 

One name that bucked the trend Monday morning was our old friend PayPal… 

Shares of the online payment stock have dropped more than 20% over the past three weeks…

With share prices closing in on quarterly lows, the bulls made a run early Monday. 

About 30 minutes into the open, my scanners spotted one daring dip buyer sweep up more than 1,400 contracts of the Dec. 9 expiration, $75 strike calls for over $170,000 in premium! 

Within an hour of the trade hitting the tape, bullish buyers sent the stock soaring more than 2.5%, setting the stage for a fantastic day trade before it fell back to earth, down 1.9% about a half-hour before the close!

Since good old J-Pow’s speech hinting the Fed could let its foot off of the interest rate gas pedal, we’ve seen a lot of choppy, sideways price action.

Markets edged down at Friday’s open after the latest jobs data came in hotter than expected — and Wall Street took that to mean the Fed could keep that rate hike pedal to the floor after all.

But it doesn’t matter if they’re doves, hawks or big, old turkeys… we’re going to keep trading that short-term institutional options flow…

When the sun is shining, you have to make that hay. And that’s exactly what the New Money Crew strategies did this week!

Follow the (Short-Term) Institutional Options Flow

The midweek pop was just the opportunity we needed to harvest some early holidays profits!

Our Weekly Blitz Alerts cooked through the long Thanksgiving weekend… We scalped a quick 41%* return with a day trade on Coca-Cola Co. (NYSE: KO) before the break…

And then followed that up with a trio of fantastic wins on Altria Group Inc. (NYSE: MO), Stellantis N.V. (NYSE: STLA) and Roblox Corp. (NYSE: RBLX), scoring 38%*, 40%* and 35%*, respectively!

All four trades smashed the 13.3% weighted average return — including all winning and losing trades — and eight-day average hold time the strategy’s inception on Feb. 21, 2020 — you love to see it!  

Trades like this and the thousands of others my scanners spotted over the years are the reason I eat, sleep and breathe institutional order flow.

Scanner Spots Last-Minute Miracle

Take a look at this image right here…

That’s an order for Dec. 2 expiration, $145 strike puts on Salesforce Inc. (NYSE: CRM) — more than 1,500 contracts for over 245,000 in premium!

The company released its earnings results after the market close on Wednesday…

Salesforce ended up beating earnings expectations, but shares sank like a stone when the company announced co-CEO Bret Taylor will step down at the end of January…

Ouch.

Check the timestamp — the short-term options flow rolled across the wire just one single minute before the closing bell.

And those contracts went from a low of $1.54 at Wednesday’s close to a high of $4.30** within 10 minutes of Thursday’s open!

Now, I can’t prove it, but no one out there can convince me that this short-term options flow trader didn’t know something to push such a large, aggressive trade right at the close before a major catalyst.

Institutional traders love to hit option bets late in the day to keep other deep pockets from cutting in on their action…

They didn’t think we’d notice, but we did, and our New Money Crew strategies use that knowledge to bridge the information gap between the big-money institutions and retail traders like us — with great results!

This was a midweek earnings bet, but one of their favorite targets is taking trades through the weekend, and for the past year, I’ve been targeting those trades with my Wiretap Alerts strategy.

The results speak for themselves — like the monster trade we spotted on Wynn Resorts (Nasdaq: WYNN) at the end of October…

Markets are treading water Thursday, digesting the massive midweek pump from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell late Wednesday afternoon. 

But even though the major indexes were stuck going sideways most of Thursday, we’ve seen an explosion of institutional order flow in the wake of Jay Powell’s speech!

Markets popped Wednesday afternoon after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell telegraphed a need to “moderate” future interest rate hikes.

Trade volumes were light this week in the lead-up to Powell’s remarks, and the dovish comments whipped the bulls into a frenzy — flipping the S&P 500 green and the Nasdaq soaring more than 300 points in an hour!

I can’t wait to see if this trend holds in December because I’m ready to start slinging some trades again…

But even in low-volume, high-volatility markets we get during the holidays, we can always look for catalyst events like earnings to help move stocks independently of the broader market.

In Tuesday’s Blitz Daily with Lance Ippolito, we take a look at tech titan Apple as iPhone factory workers continue to protest in China.

The low-volume holiday hangover refused to leave as markets sold off yet again Tuesday.  

Protests across China over strict COVID-19 lockdown measures continued to weigh on tech stocks. 

The situation has been brutal for top computer and gadget-maker Apple, as one of the key iPhone production facilities in Zhengzhou is at the center of the unrest. 

But while recent reports suggest restrictions could relax as soon as Wednesday, analysts on Wall Street fear the damage is already done. 

In addition to supply issues, the iconic tech company is also in the crosshairs of Twitter and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the world’s richest man… 

On Monday, Musk claimed in a series of now-deleted tweets that Apple has pulled most of its advertising and threatened to remove the social media platform from its App Store — ending with a meme suggesting he would rather “go to war” than pay Apple’s fees, which amount to 30% for companies making over $1 million a year.

Markets are suffering from a bit of holiday hangover with stocks falling Monday over concerns of Chinese labor disputes.

The demonstrations erupted in response to the nation’s latest round of strict COVID-19 lockdown policies and have weighed on stock prices for tech and growth names…

The sour sentiment comes at a bad time for our old friends Cathie Wood and Zoom, the top holding in her ARK Innovation ETF (NYSEArca: ARKK).

Shares of the video networking platform plunged as much as 4.8% from its previous closing price, marking its ninth straight day of losses.

The streak is the worst stretch for the company since May 2021, with shares down around 16% so far for November.
