Bulls Pounce on AMAT Earnings as Semiconductors Soar

by | Nov 14, 2022 | Options

In Monday’s Blitz Daily with Lance Ippolito, we take a look at tech manufacturing firm Applied Materials ahead of its Nov. 17 earnings date.

The bulls tried their best, but Monday’s afternoon rally wasn’t enough to overcome a volatile start to the week.

Traders should expect some consolidation following this past week’s breakout move higher…

But even with a pause in the trend, we’re still seeing heavy earnings flow and short-term weekly options hit the tape.

One name to watch this week is Applied Materials after shares jumped 13.5% in the past week ahead of the company’s earnings release on Thursday.

Wondering what those little arrows mean and how they can help improve your trading? Get the details here!

My scanners picked up repeat buying in the semiconductor equipment-maker Monday, with one big-money buyer scooping up about 1,700 contracts of the Dec. 16 expiration, $120 strike calls for around $424,000 in premium!

The way I see it, active day and short-term swing trading is where traders want to be in this market… And that’s why we keep our eyes on institutional options flow like this…

  • Applied Materials Inc. (Nasdaq: AMAT): Dec. 16, $120 CALL.
  • Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX): Nov. 18, $302.50 CALL.
  • Tesla Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA): Nov. 18, $200 CALL.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
