Bulls Get Charged Up as Battery Upstart FREY Bounces 20%

by | Sep 21, 2022 | Options

In Wednesday’s Blitz Daily with Lance Ippolito, we take a look at electrical equipment name Freyr Battery after shares hit record highs.

Markets floated higher on low volume early Wednesday as traders covered their bases ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee’s interest rate decision…

And then at 2 p.m. sharp on the East Coast, we were hit with a massive red candle as the S&P 500 dropped 1.5% in five minutes as Fed Chair Jerome Powell and his gang unleashed their third 75-basis-point interest rate hike in a row.

Shortly after it hit, the bulls filled that gap to the upside with their own 1.9% countermove before heading straight back down again.

That insane volatility brought the institutional options flow to a crawl for most of the day, but we did see some big bullish moves early on…

Battery-maker Freyr made waves among call buyers, as shares jumped 20% on an upgrade from analysts at Morgan Stanley…

As the stock rocketed toward record highs, my scanners spotted several monster bets in the industrials upstart!

The deep pockets swooped in to grab about 1,000 contracts of the Nov. 18 expiration, $15 strike calls for more than $225,000 in premium!

Of course, that’s not the only name hitting the tape Wednesday…

  • FREYR Battery (NYSE: FREY): Nov. 18, $15 CALL.
  • Meta Platforms Inc. (Nasdaq: META): Sept. 23, $148 CALL.
  • Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR): Jan. 20, 2023, $9 PUT

Check out my short video and I’ll break down the day’s most unusual options order flow in no time flat!

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
