We Were Ready for the Junk Stock Bounce. Were You?

by | Jun 21, 2022 | Options

I did everything I could to beat the war drums and shout from the hilltops that growth and junk stocks were poised for a bounce…

Even with Friday’s run up, the S&P 500 took the worst thumping it’s seen since the pandemic hit in 2020, dropping almost 6% while the tech-heavy Nasdaq fell almost 5% for the week.

When you see a strong move down like that, you’ll often see a big bounce like we are Tuesday…

And it shouldn’t be any surprise that tech names are leading the way up!

I hope you took advantage of Tuesday’s junk stock bounce because our New Money Crew strategies did just that…

In fact, it’s one of the best weekends Wiretap Alerts has ever seen!

How We Crushed Tuesday’s Junk Stock Bounce

This time last week, I was laser-focused on one thing — the energy pullback.

I said then the stocks that would bounce most if we get energy selling off should be the Ark Invest names, the high-growth stocks…

But you don’t have to take my word for it. Check the clip up top for yourself.

Well… energy names kept selling, and would you look at that…

Our good friend Cathie Wood, the CEO of Ark Invest, is having an excellent start to her holiday-shortened week… In fact, her junk stock behemoth, ARK Innovation ETF (NYSEARCA: ARKK), bounced 8% before lunchtime!

On Friday, we saw big wires hit the tape on her latest No. 1 holding, Roku Inc. (Nasdaq: ROKU).

Given everything we’d seen last week, I was willing to take a risk and size up on ROKU’s June 24 expiration, $82 strike calls. We also had a bonus trade in addition to our three weekly plays — all of which were winners! A 4-for-4 week — BANG!

As a result, our Wiretap Alerts strategy, which reeled in a 45%* winner on ROKU in a  beefed-up position size brings the weighted average return for this week’s four trades to 155%!*

That’s the second-biggest week in strategy history, trouncing the 14.44% weighted average return each week among the three trades issued — including all winners and losers — since its debut!

And this week’s hat trick plus one of winning trades makes us 11 for 12 over the past four weeks, bringing Wiretap Alerts’ win rate up to 68.7% since our Sept. 24, 2021, launch date… Not bad… not bad at all! I mean… have you seen how brutal this market is?!

And we’re bringing home winners in better than two-thirds of our trades every week on average!

If you got in on any of these trades, write  and let me know how you did at lance@newmoneycrew.com. We’ve already gotten a couple of nice emails from some of you, which always puts a big ol’ smile on my face!

One thing is for sure, we’ve seen some crazy, choppy markets so far in 2022. And with price action like this, options spread strategies are fantastic tools to have in your trading arsenal…

That’s why at 4 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 22, I’m holding a LIVE advanced spread strategy workshop!

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.

I want to talk about our version of “Trust but Verify” in the markets. Qualification is the most important part of the investing process. And this F score value strategy looks to be crushing the current market.
