Is the Market Consolidating or Ready for Another Leg Down?

by | Apr 1, 2022 | Market Updates

Wall Street logged its worst quarter in two years as Q1 2022 came to a close Thursday — and more in Friday’s stock market recap.

Between high inflation, the Federal Reserve beginning to raise interest rates, and not to mention Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the markets have been whipsawed by new headlines on a daily basis.

However, stock futures started Q2 on a strong note. Employment growth for March came in lower than expected but still strong. Jobs growth for both January and February was also revised up.

But the question on everyone’s mind is whether this market can continue to rise, or if it’s going to stumble.

Bear markets tend to be listless, which isn’t what we’ve been seeing. The amount of volatility we’re experiencing tells me there’s still life left in this market, especially with earnings season just a few weeks away.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, you’ll discover whether the market is ready to consolidate and trend higher, or stall out and fall back to the base… how this week’s Fed data is impacting the bond market… which sectors look bullish and which ones are falling… plus how to prepare yourself for next week’s trading action right now.

The markets have been up and down to say the least… In fact, it’s been like a roller coaster…

The Dow alone has been swinging on average 500 to 700 points every single day over the past few weeks…

And that can either demolish an account… or it can be the greatest edge a trader could possibly have

What will it be for you?

Let Joy of the Trade Head Trader Jeff Zananiri explain what we mean in this video.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
