My Top ETF as Tesla, Airline Earnings Send Stocks Soaring

by | Apr 21, 2022 | Market Updates

Stock futures rose as Tesla and United and American Airlines all reported positive earnings news — and more in Thursday’s stock market recap.

Tesla Inc. (Nasdaq: TSLA) soared 7% in premarket trading on better-than-expected earnings. United Airlines Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: UAL) and American Airlines Group Inc. (Nasdaq: AAL) also rose 8.5% and 11.5%, respectively, on forecasts of bigger profits.

These first-quarter earnings reports helped propel the markets higher a day after Netflix Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) plummeted 35%. The streaming giant continued to fall Thursday morning, down 1.5% premarket.

The Dow rose 0.7% on Wednesday, putting it above its 200-day moving average. The S&P 500 is at its 200-day MA and the Nasdaq appears to be consolidating, all good signs for the market.

We also have Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX), Dow Inc. (NYSE: DOW), AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) and many others reporting soon.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, you’ll learn how earnings impact stocks… which two sectors are flirting with new highs… what it means for stocks with the Dow near its 200-day moving average… if bonds will trade higher or lower… a global market update… plus which ETF could be a good buy right now and how to pair it with an option.

P.S. There’s a Right and Wrong Way to Trade Volatility

The secret to finding the strongest companies in the market right now is in what I call the “Super Stocks.”

Our biggest winners were selected by cutting all the dead weight out of the market, and then focusing only on the strongest names left standing.

That’s exactly what we do with my Super Stocks!

And I have a special video on exactly how this algorithmic strategy works…

Each Thursday, I’ll combine two of my favorite things into a big-money opportunity: options plays and ETFs. Using options, we can turn momentum analysis of a specific sector — or even an entire country’s stock market — into an actionable trade with double- or triple-digit upside potential. I’ll give you all the details you need to execute this plan.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
