The Best Sectors to Trade as the Market Breaks Down

by | Aug 29, 2022 | Market Updates

The major indexes slid lower to start the week following Friday’s sharp sell-off — and more in Monday’s stock market recap.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Friday the central bank remains committed to fighting inflation, and will continue raising interest rates.

With no major economic data or earnings reports on Monday, Wall Street is considering the size of the Fed’s next rate hike and its impact, which could come next month.

We’ll have the consumer confidence report on Tuesday, while Wednesday brings the ADP Employment Report.

Thursday is a big day for data with jobless claims, the PMI Manufacturing Final and the ISM Manufacturing Index.

Then we close out the week with data on the unemployment situation, where we’ll learn the current unemployment rate.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, you’ll discover the biggest reports of the week… major support levels for stocks… why this downside was expected… whether bonds will break lower or stay flat… the best sectors to trade right now… whether tech and consumer stocks are bouncing or breaking down… plus major threats and opportunities for the week ahead.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.
