S&P 500 Logs Worst First Half Since 1970 — Plus an Urgent Update!

by | Jul 1, 2022 | Market Updates

The major indexes are down following the S&P 500’s worst first half since 1970 — and more in Friday’s stock market recap.

With a three-day holiday weekend for the Fourth of July coming up, a lot of traders are going to be taking off Friday for travel, so expect low volume and little to no directional bias.

Chip-maker Micron Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) released earnings just below expectations Thursday after the market close. Micron is oversold to the downside, as we can see in the divergence between the stock price and its Relative Strength Index.

Micron’s earnings could impact the chip sector, so we’ll want to keep an eye on the VanEck Semiconductor ETF (Nasdaq: SMH).

In this morning’s stock market recap video, you’ll learn what to expect from the market Friday… whether volatility is declining and what it means for the overall market… why the bond market is dictating how tech and consumer stocks behave… an update on volatility and how it’s impacting current trends… an update on what to expect next week with key levels… and how to trade the current market with seasonal patterns!

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.
