A Major Sector Rotation Is Happening… Plus My Top Bullish, Bearish Plays

by | Jun 22, 2022 | Market Updates

U.S. stock futures traded lower this morning ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech today — and more in Wednesday’s stock market recap.

This means everyone’s eyes will be on the iShares 20-Plus Year Treasury Bond ETF (Nasdaq: TLT), which is still trading choppy and having a hard time going lower. If the bond market remains in this trading range, it’ll signify that it’s done declining and the worst downward pressure is already priced into the market.

Even though stocks are down, volatility via the VIX, or fear gauge, didn’t make a lower low…

So as long as the CBOE Volatility Index (INDEXCBOE: VIX) doesn’t break its recent high at the 37 level, then I’ll continue to believe that volatility will subside as the broader market gains strength.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll explain why the bond market is increasingly choppy… what type of action the Fed will take at its next meeting… why small-cap stocks are outperforming large caps… which sector is set to lead over the near term… an update on volatility levels… and the top bullish and bearish plays for Wednesday.

P.S. I’ve been working on a brand-new way to trade the stock market for the past six months…

When things started getting dicey in January, I set out to optimize 64 secret market patterns that date back to the 18th century…

With the idea of “trading stocks” without having to worry about the stock itself!

That means no fundamental analysis or technical indicators…

Now, I’m still wrapping up the final stages of the testing process before I go public with this breakthrough, and there are only a few spots left to join…

P.P.S. When it comes to trading, every second counts. And in choppy markets like these, often driven by headlines, stocks can make big moves in a flash.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
