The Biggest Threats and Top Trade Opportunities This Week

by | May 23, 2022 | Market Updates

U.S. stock futures are up this morning as Wall Street attempts to recover from the recent sell-off that almost pushed the S&P 500 into bear territory on Friday — and more in Monday’s stock market recap.

The Federal Reserve at 2 p.m. EDT on Wednesday is set to release the minutes of its latest policy meeting from earlier this month that resulted in a half-percentage-point rise in interest rates, or double March’s hike.

What we need to do is keep our eye on the iShares 20 Plus Year Treasury Bond ETF (Nasdaq: TLT) because it’s been trading sideways for five weeks now. Keep in mind that if the bond market can’t trade lower, it means long-term rates won’t go higher because they have an inverse relationship.

In terms of what else to watch out for this week, the U.S. gross domestic product report comes out on Thursday. If personal consumption expenditures come in better than expected, it means consumers are still spending and that’s a bullish sign for the market.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll show you what to expect this week… the biggest reports to pay attention to… an update on market internals and why they matter the most right now… a sector breakdown and whether we should expect more downside or a reversal… and the biggest threats and opportunities for the week ahead.

P.S. The stock market’s recent sell-off has left many traders scrambling, but not my team…

We’re playing the lows…

That’s because I created a trading strategy with the initial purpose of using it for a bull market, but it ended up working even better in a crashing one!

So these tough times are exactly what my system ordered…

And I’ve decided to host an urgent trading session at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, May 24, to give everyone the details on how it all works.

Sign up for it here!

P.P.S. When it comes to trading, every second counts. And in choppy markets like these, often driven by headlines, stocks can make big moves in a flash.

That’s why I want you to get my latest trading ideas and market updates as fast as possible. So I’m rolling out an all-new option for my students to receive trade alerts with Telegram!

Telegram allows me to get trade ideas, videos and watchlists to you in a matter of seconds.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
