Markets Surge on Big Retail Earnings, Latest Inflation Data

by | Nov 15, 2022 | Market Updates

Earnings are winding down, but with the retail sector and companies like Cisco and Tyson Foods yet to report, there’s plenty of news driving market action this week.

In today’s The Big Picture, I’ll sit down with Fausto Pugliese, founder and president of Cyber Trading University. Pugliese began his career on Wall Street as a stockbroker, is a 12-time champion ot the World Traders Challenge, and has appeared on Fox News and CNBC.

With the collapse of crypto exchange FTX, it’s sure to be a lively discussion!

We’ll cover all this and more, and we’re just about to get started at 10 a.m. ET!

Stock Market Recap, Nov. 15, 2022

The markets jumped higher Tuesday morning as the most recent data indicates that inflation is slowing — and more in Tuesday’s stock market recap.

The Producer Price Index, a report that provides insight into how inflation affects producers, and how they pass those costs on to consumers, rose 0.2% for the month versus 0.4% expected.

Last week’s Consumer Price Index also came in below expectations, sparking a huge relief rally. Investors will look to the Federal Reserve to see what this week’s speakers have to say.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll discuss why I believe blue chips are overbought… what sectors offer the most upside advantage and which are set to decline… where the biggest vulnerability is in stocks right now… an update on earnings for two huge retailers… plus the strongest stock in the strongest sector, and weakest stock in the weakest sector.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
