Our Favorite Trade Ideas and Sectors in This Deeply Oversold Market

by | Sep 6, 2022 | Market Outlook, Stocks

We had a disastrous ending to the month of August across all assets, created by a Federal Reserve hellbent on reining in inflation that it let run too hot in the first place…

But I see the market heading higher in the near term, which I discussed this morning with Senior Strategist Roger Scott on The Big Picture With Jeff & Roger.

And here’s what I’m looking for…

We’ve had up mornings every day for the past four trading sessions, only to close lower. I want to see us close higher than the previous day’s high after making a new low in the morning — that would be a true key day reversal.

The Big Picture With Jeff & Roger

Roger and I both believe we’re oversold. But a big problem is the Fed is still so hawkish. And after everything they’ve gotten wrong at the U.S. central bank, there’s no reason to believe they’ll get anything right.

And if they stay hawkish for too long, that’s not going to be good for the market. And that brings me to the first of two stocks I’ll give away today…

I like discount retailers in this environment, and one of the standout stocks to start this month is Dollar General Corp. (NYSE: DG). That’s one of my 10 new trades for our Money Flows Elite strategy, and I give a second pick away in the video above!

Each month on the third trading day, I send a new alert to Money Flows Elite members after tracking the strongest and weakest stocks seeing institutional buying and selling.

DG is one of the standouts for institutional money flows so far in September, and it’s a stock that does well historically in bear markets and recessionary periods. That’s because people in the middle class start to look elsewhere for cheaper necessities like toilet paper, paper towels and dishwasher detergent.

That stuff is usually cheaper at Dollar General than compared to Target, for example, so this is a stock I like this month. It was one of 10 new picks in this month’s Money Flows Elite portfolio, which has six longs including a bonus trade, and four short plays as a hedge.

P.S. The Powerful ‘Numerical’ Sequence Hidden Behind Every Stock

Part supercomputer and entirely algorithmic…

We’re not talking about the next self-driving car, but rather the remarkable trading breakthrough known as the “S3 Advantage.”

After two years in development, this brainchild of myself and Jack Carter is finally ready to be released to the public!

It has to do with a powerful “numerical” sequence hidden behind every stock…

So Jack and I joined forces to go live for the big reveal.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.

I want to talk about our version of “Trust but Verify” in the markets. Qualification is the most important part of the investing process. And this F score value strategy looks to be crushing the current market.
