All Eyes Are on Energy, Consumer Discretionary Amid Retail Surprises

by | Nov 22, 2022 | Market Updates

The major indexes headed higher Tuesday morning as Wall Street looked to shake off Monday’s news concerning new COVID-19 developments out of China — and more in Tuesday’s stock market recap.

We still have a handful of earnings reports coming in ahead of the holiday, with Best Buy Co. Inc. (NYSE: BBY), Nordstrom Inc. (NYSE: JWN), Dollar Tree Inc. (Nasdaq: DLTR) and others reporting.

Electronics retailer Best Buy surprised to the upside, beating both earnings and revenue estimates. The news sent shares up more than 8% premarket.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll discuss why I’m so worried about the global economy… why I’m skeptical of a Dow rally… which sectors remain bearish… which stocks I’m focused on right now… which Federal Reserve report is crucial… the odds of the Fed raising rates 0.75% versus 0.50% in December… plus how to trade the current market cycle!

P.S. What WWII, the Great Recession and the COVID-19 Crash Had In Common

Trading has been harder than ever for most this year…

But what if you were able to take advantage of ONE market trend that’s been proven, time and time again?

One that’s never failed to unfold, even during the Great Depression, World War II, 1987’s Black Monday and the dot-com crash, to name a few…

We’re talking about one trend a very unlikely trader stumbled upon about 560 days ago… And once she shared this trend with me, I was SHOCKED!

I just couldn’t believe I’d never seen this in my near-three decades of trading…

So I insisted she reveal it to all my readers LIVE at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

And the best part is, it doesn’t cost a thing to attend!

Uncover the Details Here

P.P.S. When it comes to trading, every second counts. And in choppy markets like these, often driven by headlines, stocks can make big moves in a flash.

That’s why I want you to get my latest trading ideas and market updates as fast as possible. So I’m rolling out an all-new option for my students to receive trade alerts with Telegram!

Telegram allows me to get trade ideas, videos and watchlists to you in a matter of seconds.

On Tuesdays, I’ll detail the strongest and weakest sectors in the entire market. I’ll tell you exactly where I’d put my money and go long, and which ones I’d avoid or even short. Using my proprietary momentum indicator, you’ll get actionable ideas on every market sector, every single Tuesday.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
