My Top Sector and Stock as the Market Breaks Out

by | Oct 4, 2022 | Market Updates

Before we get into today’s stock market recap, I want to let you know about something special I’ve arranged…

Given the current economic environment, I’m holding a special open house session of my VIP Trade Room — at no cost! — where I’ll be joined by Joy of the Trade’s Jeff Zananiri. We’re calling it our “Critical Macro Update.” We’ll discuss the global economy, the looming housing crisis and the potential opportunities it presents. It’s a session you don’t want to miss!

Join us Here at Noon EDT Today!

Now, let’s get to Tuesday’s stock market recap…

The major indexes are up as Wall Street tries to shake off a brutal September that brought new yearly lows.

This week brings several key reports, like international trade in goods and services, the PMI composite final, wholesale inventories and consumer credit.

But one of the most important is Friday’s employment situation report, which will be the last jobs report before the Federal Reserve makes its next decision on interest rates. The Fed’s next meeting is scheduled for Nov. 2.

In this morning’s stock market recap video, I’ll discuss whether momentum levels are rising or flat… a key level for the Dow… whether volatility levels are falling or rising… the latest update on the global economy… the biggest report of the week… the top sector and top industry right now… which small-cap stocks are breaking out… plus how to navigate this market in the current climate.

Don’t forget to like and subscribe to our YouTube channel if you haven’t already so you can be notified as soon as we post our next video and see what other trade opportunities we’re paying close attention to!

P.S. Homeowners, Beware — It Could Only Get Worse

With 2022 being such a tough year already, the LAST thing Joy of the Trade’s Jeff Zananiri wants to do is add more rain to your parade…

But this is unavoidable.

Just the other day, when Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell committed to hiking interest rates again, and again… Something scary happened in the housing market…

Mortgage rates jumped to new highs — even higher than before the Great Recession.

  • 30-year fixed: 7.479%.
  • 30-year fixed FHA: 6.917%.
  • 30-year fixed VA: 7.352%.

Now, for those who own a home, you might wonder what this has to do with you…

The answer is everything… your retirement plans… your nest egg… your kids’ and grandkids’ futures…

That’s why Jeff is going live at 1 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Oct. 4, for a special emergency briefing — and it doesn’t cost a cent to attend!

P.P.S. When it comes to trading, every second counts. And in choppy markets like these, often driven by headlines, stocks can make big moves in a flash.

That’s why I want you to get my latest trading ideas and market updates as fast as possible. So I’m rolling out an all-new option for my students to receive trade alerts with Telegram!

Telegram allows me to get trade ideas, videos and watchlists to you in a matter of seconds.

Check out this short article we put together with instructions on how to download telegram and access my private channel. Go here to get the details.

On Tuesdays, I’ll detail the strongest and weakest sectors in the entire market. I’ll tell you exactly where I’d put my money and go long, and which ones I’d avoid or even short. Using my proprietary momentum indicator, you’ll get actionable ideas on every market sector, every single Tuesday.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.

I want to talk about our version of “Trust but Verify” in the markets. Qualification is the most important part of the investing process. And this F score value strategy looks to be crushing the current market.
