2 Stocks to Consider as September’s FOMC Meeting Kicks Off

by | Sep 20, 2022 | Market Updates

The major indexes are down as the Federal Open Market Committee kicks off its September meeting — and more in Tuesday’s stock market recap.

While some investors worry we might see a 1% interest rate hike, odds are it will be another 0.75% hike. We can expect trading to be subdued until the Federal Reserve makes its announcement on Wednesday.

In other news, companies are still struggling with supply chain issues as inflation persists.

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) announced Monday that supply problems have caused parts shortages for about 40,000 to 45,000 vehicles. The company also said supplier costs could be about $1 billion more than expected in the third quarter, and Ford stock was down more than 8% just after the opening bell.

99 Problems and a “Pivot” is One

A friend of mine sent me this chart about three months ago. I should probably print it and keep it in my wallet next to a photo of my daughter. Given the sheer number of questions I’ve fielded lately, I’ll probably end up showing this chart more than her picture.

Everything Everywhere, Going Down, All At Once

When our momentum reading went negative last week, I didn’t know that we’d have the second largest bank failure in U.S. history three days later. All I knew was that it went negative… and that we got out of the way.
